Benin: Microdata Management Training (April 2014)
A Microdata Management Training and NADA installation were organized in Cotonou, Benin at the request of the National Statistics Institute (INSAE) from April 14-18. Twelve participants from various departments of the national statistics institute (INSAE) attended the training workshop.
The training was facilitated by ADP regional consultants Mr. LĂ©andre Ngogang from the INS in Cameroon and Mr. Freeman Amergashie, from AFRISTAT. This was the first documentation workshop held in Benin. The workshop began with an introductory session to inform INSAE of the ADP and the activities regarding documentation, archiving and dissemination. The participants were trained on the NESSTAR Publisher and worked together to document recent surveys from INSAE. A special session was dedicated to the design of a microdata dissemination policy and the facilitators emphasized the importance of this issue. AFRISTAT and PARIS21 will provide support to INSAE in order to establish a draft policy. The facilitators also worked with the technical team within INSAE to install the National Data Archive (NADA) which will be made public shortly and to provide the necessary training.
At the end of the training, the participants successfully documented six surveys that will be posted to their newly installed NADA.
