South Africa: Workshop on Data Documentation and Installation of a NADA (March 2015)
The ADP undertook a training support mission with Statistics South Africa (StatsSA). The mission was undertaken by partners at the University of Cape Town (UCT-DataFirst). The aim of the mission was to install National Data Archive (NADA) microdata management software on an intranet at the Stakeholder Relations and Marketing (SRM) Department and train SRM staff to manage StatsSA microdata sets. A special collaborative arrangement exits between Statistics SA and DataFirst at the UCT. The workshop trained Stats SA staff in data documentation (creating metadata for their micro-datasets) using the Nesstar Publisher software.Rwanda: Microdata Dissemination Policy Workshop (August 2014)
A Regional Workshop on Developing Data Dissemination Policies was held from 27 – 29 August 2014 in Kigali, Rwanda. Representatives from National Statistics Offices of eight countries attended the workshop, including: Botswana, Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda and South Africa. These countries are in different stages of developing their data dissemination policies. Among them Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda and South Africa have full-fledged policies for disseminating microdata. Botswana, Burundi, Ghana and Malawi are countries without formal policies.
Regional Training Workshop on NADA 4.0 held in Tunis for English Speaking African Countries (June 2013)
A Regional Training workshop was held in Tunis, Tunisia on June 10 – 12, 2013 in the context of the launching of the NADA 4.0 by the International Household Survey Network (IHSN). This workshop was jointly organized by PARIS21 with the World Bank and the African Development Bank.
Regional training workshop on population and housing census documentation and archiving held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 12-16 December 2011
The PARIS21 Secretariat and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) undertook a training workshop on the use of the IHSN Microdata Management Toolkit. This workshop was conducted in the context of the joint OECD/PARIS21 – World Bank Accelerated Data Program (ADP, www.ihsn.org/adp). The first "Regional training on the documentation and archiving of Agricultural Censuses and Surveys” was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, 7-11 February 2011. The objective of the workshop was to train participants from 15 countries on the use the Microdata Management Toolkit for the documentation of Agricultural Census and Surveys, and to initiate the documentation of their latest agricultural census.
