Statistics Sierra Leone (SSL) launches its National Data Archive (26 February 2011)

Statistics Sierra Leone (SSL) launched its National Data Archive on its website: http://www.statistics.sl/nada/index.php/home

This website contains data, reports and other documentation on census and surveys conducted by Statistics Sierra Leone. More surveys will be posted in the coming weeks. The website was installed with technical assistance from the Ghana Statistical Service.

The launching followed a one week training workshop on survey documentation, using the IHSN Microdata Management Toolkit. 18 participants from Statistics Sierra Leone and government ministries documented 6 of their censuses and surveys. Opening remarks were made by the Directors of Statistics Sierra Leone and the Acting Statistician General Mohammed Koroma. Emphasis was placed on the need for documentation for purposes of preservation, institutional memory and dissemination to policy makers.
