Indonesia PBS receiving ADP support with the involvment from the World Bank in Jakarta (July 2012)

Country / Regional Activity: Indonesia
Date of Event: 30/07/2012
The Accelerated Data Program conducted a Microdata Management Toolkit Workshop for the staff of Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS - Statistics Indonesia) and staff of the World Bank Office, Jakarta (WBOJ) from 23-27 July 2012 in Puncak, West Java. The training is the first step in a series of activities under the World Bank’s StatCap program where improved microdata dissemination is seen as one of the major initiatives for reforms in the development of statistics in Indonesia. The training produced good quality documentation of surveys, 10 studies in English and 9 in Bahasa. The Bahasa version of the NADA which the participants created using the NADA Translation Editor further enhanced the presentation of workshop outputs. The BPS Director for Statistical Dissemination, Abdul Rachman, who was guest at the closing program, expressed appreciation and optimism that the Toolkit will be useful to BPS and its clients, especially as BPS envisions an integrated system for metadata search for all definitions, methodologies and variables. Subsequent meetings with BPS are being worked out by the World Bank, in collaboration with the ADP, to follow- up on the gains achieved during the workshop.
