Archiving activities initiated in Zanzibar OCGS (December 2012, Zanzibar, Tanzania)

The ADP in collaboration with the World Bank Office in Tanzania conducted the IHSN Microdata Management Toolkit training for the Office of Chief Government Statistician (OCGS) of Zanzibar from 10 to 14 December 2012 in Stone Town, Zanzibar. The week-long training was participated in by a group of 8 OCGS staff who practiced documentation on 2 rounds of their Household Budget Survey. Aimed at launching a NADA of its own, the OCGS intends to document more surveys to populate the microdata catalog and supports ADP’s recommendation of making documentation an integral part of departmental tasks within the office. Furtherance of ADP efforts in Zanzibar is anticipated as OCGS shows keen interest in being involved on the next activities of the program. Synergies will be looked at with Tanzania NBS.
