Cambodia: National Institute of Statistics Engages Microdata Users (October 2013)

Country / Regional Activity: Cambodia
Date of Event: 17/10/2013

The National Institute of Statistics (NIS) Cambodia, with the support of the Accelerated Data Program (ADP), hosted a workshop in Phnom Penh on October 17 and 18, 2013 to engage a wide range of microdata users from line ministries, research institutions, NGOs, international organizations and private companies. NIS has recently upgraded the National Data Archive (NADA) with the addition of ten latest surveys including the Economic Census of Cambodia 2011 and Cambodia Socio-Economic Survey 2011. NIS is also finalizing a Microdata Dissemination Policy to further improve microdata access and service to users. During the workshop, users were introduced to the range of survey and census data disseminated by NIS and gained hands-on training of how to search and request access for data on NADA. The workshop also facilitated exchanges between NIS and data users, who provided feedbacks on the latest draft of the microdata dissemination policy and raised issues about data availability and quality.
