Liberia: LISGIS holds a Survey Metadata Production Workshop in Monrovia (May 2014)

Country / Regional Activity: Liberia
Date of Event: 19/05/2014

At the request of the Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-information Services (LISGIS) a Survey Metadata Production Workshop was held in Monrovia on 19 - 23 May 2014. A total of eighteen participants from different departments of the LISGIS, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Labor participated in the workshop and documented fourteen surveys during the 5-day period. In addition, the participants were also informed on the use and importance of NADA for on-line dissemination of survey microdata. A specific training on the NADA management and administration was also provided to LISGIS IT staff. At the end of the workshop, six of the fourteen documented surveys were uploaded to LISGIS NADA (http://www.lisgis.net/nada/index.php/catalog). The other surveys documented at the workshop will soon be published on LISGIS NADA after the metadata quality controls are completed.

The workshop was facilitated by ADP consultants Mrs. Aakinsanya Afusat Adepeju from Nigeria and Mr. Biniyam Tadesse Awoke from Central Statistics Agency (CSA) of Ethiopia. We especially thank Dr. T. Edward Liberty, Director General of LISGIS who has repeatedly shown great interest and commitment on archiving and disseminating survey data using tools and guidelines developed by IHSN.
