Country / Regional Activity: Kenya
Date of Event: 12/05/2014

At the request of Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) a five-day Survey Metadata Production Workshop using Nesstar Publisher 4.0.9 was held in Nairobi on May 12 - 16, 2014. KNBS has been participating in ADP activities since 2007. A similar workshop was also done in 2011 and about forty-one surveys are available on KeNADA. The latest workshop was done as part of ADP support deigned to  sustain the microdata management process at the NSO. The KNBS has expressed commitment to institutionalize the microdata documentation and dissemination activities in KNBS as a part of a complete survey procedure. Sixteen participants from different sections of KNBS participated in the workshop. Eleven  new surveys were documented. The surveys will soon be available in KeNADA after the quality review of the documentation is completed.

The workshop was facilitated by ADP consultants Mrs. Aakinsanya Afusat Adepeju from Nigeria and Mr. Biniyam Tadesse Awoke from Central Statistics Agency (CSA) of Ethiopia. Mr. Biniyam, who is also a NADA expert, visited KNBS and trained its IT staff to upgrade and maintenance NADA. The KeNADA is now in Version 4.2 (http://statistics.knbs.or.ke/nada/index.php/catalog).
