Côte d'Ivoire: Data Dissemination Policy Finalization (February 2015)

The Institut National de la Statistique (INS) undertook a consultative workshop to finalize the draft of their data dissemination policy. The workshop was sponsored by the ADP/PARIS21 and organized by the INS. The workshop took place in Agboville from the 23rd -25th of February. The workshop was facilitated by representatives from statistical offices in Cameroon, Mr. Martin Mba and Senegal, Mr. Mamadou Niang. A growing community of practice is being developed in the region. The Cote d’Ivoire now joins Senegal and Cameroon with a comprehensive approach to microdata dissemination.

The draft data dissemination policy addresses the following:

  • The need to release microdata as soon as possible after publication of results providing for a 3-6 month window for publication.
     
  • Recognizes the need to preserve confidentiality; assure public data files provide consistent results and also are documented using the Data Documentation Initiative (DDI)
     
  • Potential user classifications
     
  • Different levels of access


The policy will be submitted now for final approval.
