Honduras: DDI Expansion Workshop (March 2015)
A Data Documentation Initiative Expansion Workshop was held in Tegucigalpa, Honduras from March 16 to March 20th, 2015. Six institutions of the National Statistical System (NSS) were invited by the National Statistics Office in Honduras (INE). The workshop was held in the Maya Hotel with 14 participants from various ministries.
Enrique Chavez, Deputy Director of INE thanked PARIS21 consultants for the initiative to expand the use of international standards to the offices of the National Statistical System. This effectively introduces the platform for metadata exchange broadly in the statistical system. The facilitators emphasized the importance of continuing with the documentation process and to publish the metadata in the central NADA catalogue of Honduras which is already hosted on the INE server. The consultants reiterated the importance of promoting access to data to users with the ultimate goal being the promotion of the use of statistics to inform research and the public policy debate. The need to preserve the confidentiality of informants was stipulated as a necessary step to address before responding to user needs.
