Survey microdata made accessible
- National Survey catalog available on INS website (see URL above).
- All available nationally representative surveys and censuses documented, archived and disseminated.
- Capacity built and sustained within INS and line Ministries to document, archive and disseminate microdata - as standard processes of every survey undertaken. About 40 staff trained on microdata management standards, tools and practice; top management sensitized.
Quality of future surveys improved
- Innovative data collection through laptops piloted for the ENBC 2007 Household Survey, with almost live quality controls.

Niger: Data Dissemination Policy Reviewed (April 2014)
The ADP supported the INS in Niger to review the draft data dissemination policy in Tillabéri, Niger from the 19-22 April. A draft produced by the INS was reviewed in a consultative setting with 9 agencies interested in data dissemination. Twenty-one persons attended the workshop with inputs coming from international consultants representing various statistics offices. These included: Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal. The two-day workshop reviewed the legal processes currently in place and resolved to review the current law in place regarding provisions to disseminate microdata (ref: N°2014-66).Regional: Microdata Dissemination Policy Workshop (May 2014)
The ADP held a workshop in Paris, France from May 22-23 at the OECD conference center. The workshop was promoted under the Stat-3 series of workshops that will focus on: microdata dissemination policy development; microdata quality; responding to user demand for microdata. These workshops are designed to be short and focused discussions targeting decision makers at the country level. The countries represent a regional group that are in different stages in the process of developing systematic approaches to developing microdata dissemination policies; improving microdata quality and having well managed approaches to responding to user demands.
Niger: Survey Metadata Production Workshop in Niger (April 2014)
At the request of the National Institute of Statistics of Niger (INS) , the ADP carried out a Survey Metadata Production Workshop from April 28 – May 2, 2014 in Dosso. A total of twenty-eight staff members from various departments of INS Niger attended the workshop to document twenty-three surveys. At the end of the workshop, INS successfully documented the majority of their surveys and the remaining will be documented over the course of June. The documented surveys are currently being finalized and will soon be posted on their on-line catalog (ANADO).
Regional Training Workshop on NADA 4.0 held in Tunis for Francophone and Lusophone African Countries (June 2013)
A Regional Training workshop was held in Tunis, Tunisia on June 13 – 15, 2013 in the context of the launching of the NADA 4.0 by the International Household Survey Network (IHSN). This workshop was jointly organized by PARIS21 with the World Bank and the African Development Bank.
The workshop aimed to expose participants to the latest version of the NADA application which was recently released, to upgrade their existing NADAs and implement relevant quality enhancements to their systems and to discuss strategic and technical issues relating to microdata dissemination in general.ADP/AFRISTAT sub-regional training on NADA 3.0 organized in Bamako, Mali, 14-16 September 2010
The ADP organized with AFRISTAT a sub-regional training on NADA 3.0 in Bamako on 14-16 September. Participants from National Statistics Offices from Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal attended the sessions. All but Cape Verde, Morocco and Mauritania already maintain a NADA on their websites.
This training follows a previous successful joint training on NADA 2.0, organized in 2008.
The workshop focused on:
- Introducing the new NADA 3.0.
- Training in NADA 3.0 installation.
- Training in NADA 3.0 administration.
- Upgrading from NAD2.0 to NADA3.0.
- Getting feedback on functionality.
