South Africa: Regional Workshop on Data Documentation and Dissemination (June 24-26, 2014)
The ADP held a regional workshop on data documentation and dissemination in the Southern Africa region from June 24-26. The DDP has engaged NSOs in all 15 countries of the Southern Africa Development Community in regional and national-level capacity development in microdata documentation and management. ADP is also supporting some of the countries in the development of dissemination policies, and facilitating country-level user/producer exchanges through microdata outreach workshops.Lesotho: Bureau of Statistics trained in the use of the new Metadata Editor (November 2013)
At the request of the Lesotho Bureau of Statistics (BOS), staff of the BOS gathered in the town of Leribe from November 25 - 29, 2013 to participate in an ADP documentation workshop. Nineteen staff members from different departments attended the workshop. The following surveys were documented during the workshop: Population and Housing Census 2006 (miscrosample), Integrated Labour Force Survey 2008, Lesotho Demographic Survey 2011, Agricultural Census (Livestock)2010. Discussions over the future direction of the data documentation activities were also undertaken. In addition to the documentation work, a NADA 4.1 system was set up for demonstration during the workshop.
Regional Training Workshop on NADA 4.0 held in Tunis for English Speaking African Countries (June 2013)
A Regional Training workshop was held in Tunis, Tunisia on June 10 – 12, 2013 in the context of the launching of the NADA 4.0 by the International Household Survey Network (IHSN). This workshop was jointly organized by PARIS21 with the World Bank and the African Development Bank.
IHSN/ADP and SIAP partner again on microdata management (Chiba, Japan, December 2012)
The Third Group Training Course in the Production and Development of Official Statistics (in support for National Development including the Achievement of MDGs) conducted by the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific in Chiba, Japan included a short module on microdata access and survey documentation. The 25 participants came from 15 countries, namely, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, India, Iraq, Lao P.D.R., Lesotho, Micronesia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Philippines, Samoa, Syria and Tanzania. The Toolkit was used by the participants in documenting their course project on a survey of ex-SIAP trainees. The PARIS21 Secretariat and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) undertook a training workshop on the use of the IHSN Microdata Management Toolkit. This workshop was conducted in the context of the joint OECD/PARIS21 – World Bank Accelerated Data Program (ADP, www.ihsn.org/adp). This workshop which took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 12th to 16th December 2011.
