Survey microdata made accessible
- National Survey catalog available on NSO, BAS and BLES website (see URL above).
- All available nationally representative surveys and censuses documented, archived and disseminated, with a series of specific NSCB resolutions issued.
- Capacity built and sustained within NSO, BAS, BLES and FNRI to document, archive and disseminate microdata - as standard processes of every survey undertaken. About 50 staff trained on microdata management standards, tools and practice; top management sensitized.
Quality of future surveys improved
- Methodological enhancement in the NSO household survey plan.

Philippines: Regional Microdata Dissemination Policy Development Workshop (December 2014)
The ADP has been engaging countries in regional workshops dedicated to developing data dissemination policies. In 2014, several such regional workshops were undertaken. This is the first to focus specifically on developing coherent microdata dissemination policies in Asia. The workshop was held in Manila from 15-17 December 2014 and focused on the development of microdata dissemination policies within the context of their statistics laws.Philippines: More of Philippines’ agricultural surveys documented (April 2014)
Staff of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) who came from the former Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS) conducted a Survey Metadata Production Workshop in Tanza, Cavite on April 7-11, 2014 and documented seven surveys. The workshop was organized by the BAS Technical Working Group on Metadata Documentation and was fully funded from the agency’s budget. The workshop was opened by Ms. Ratelieta Millendez, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Assistant Director.
Philippines: PHL Labor and Employment Statistics Office holds internal workshop for data archiving ( March 2014)
Since the launch of the BEAMS (www.bles.dole.gov.ph/beams), which is the national NADA of the Philippines, in 2010 the Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES) of the Philippines has regularly added to the holdings of their online catalogue of surveys. The agency has successfully institutionalized microdata documentation and archiving. To ensure that they are well-equipped to carry on the good practice, an internal workshop was conducted on March 25 - 27, 2014 to build data archiving capacity and to be updated with the new version of the metadata editing tool. Thirteen participants attended the workshop.
Regional Training Workshop on NADA 4.0 held in Manila for Asian and Pacific Countries (June 2013)
NADA Administrators from fifteen agencies in eleven countries of Asia and the Pacific gathered in Bonifacio Global City, Metro Manila, Philippines on June 25-27, 2013 for a regional training workshop on NADA 4.0. The workshop began with sessions on upgrading the NADAs from version 3 to version 4. The sessions that followed were on site administration, implementing quality control measures, and learning the new features of NADA. The new NADA has several enhancements, both for users and administrators.
IHSN/ADP and SIAP partner again on microdata management (Chiba, Japan, December 2012)
The Third Group Training Course in the Production and Development of Official Statistics (in support for National Development including the Achievement of MDGs) conducted by the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific in Chiba, Japan included a short module on microdata access and survey documentation. The 25 participants came from 15 countries, namely, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ethiopia, India, Iraq, Lao P.D.R., Lesotho, Micronesia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Philippines, Samoa, Syria and Tanzania. The Toolkit was used by the participants in documenting their course project on a survey of ex-SIAP trainees. The final presentation of the project output will be done using the NADA.
