Staff of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) who came from the former Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS) conducted a Survey Metadata Production Workshop in Tanza, Cavite on April 7-11, 2014 and documented seven surveys. NADA Administrators from fifteen agencies in eleven countries of Asia and the Pacific gathered in Bonifacio Global City, Metro Manila, Philippines on June 25-27, 2013 for a regional training workshop on NADA 4.0. The workshop began with sessions on upgrading the NADAs from version 3 to version 4. The sessions that followed were on site administration, implementing quality control measures, and learning the new features of NADA. The Third Group Training Course in the Production and Development of Official Statistics (in support for National Development including the Achievement of MDGs) conducted by the Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific in Chiba, Japan included a short module on microdata access and survey documentation. Technical capacity to archive and document surveys was expanded to 4 more agencies in the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) through the conduct of the IHSN Microdata Management Toolkit Training in Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Philippines on 4 to 8 June 2012, further to the 12 agencies trained prior to 2012.
The training-workshop was held in collaboration with the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), the planning and coordinating agency of the PSS, which identifies priority agencies with designated statistics to be trained....

The technical capacity to archive and document surveys was expanded to nine more agencies in the Philippine Statistical System (PSS) with the completion of the IHSN Microdata Management Toolkit Training held in Tagaytay City, Philippines on September 5 to 9, 2011. Five (5) surveys and nine (9) administrative-based statistics were documented by 22 participants in the workshop.

ADP was presented at the Philippines National Statistical Coordination Board Executive Meeting (Pasig City, 9 November 2010)
Mr. Francois Fonteneau, ADP Program Coordinator at OECD/PARIS21, was invited to present the ADP during the fourth quarter Executive Board (EB) Meeting of the Philippines’ National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) held in Pasig City.

As part of the advocacy of the ADP in the Philippines, the ADP Manila team participated in the 11th National Convention on Statistics (NCS), held from 4 to 5 October 2010 at the EDSA Shangri-la Hotel, Mandaluyong City, Philippines and contributed a paper in line with this year’s NCS theme: “Towards a Philippine Statistical System (PSS) Responsive to Emerging National and Global Challenges”. The third Philippines’ data archive was launched by the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS) at the Imperial Palace Suites in Quezon City on 29 June 2010. Tagged with a very catchy name, BEANS which stands for BAS Electronic Archive and Network Services, the archive includes the documentation of 23 surveys. BAS Assistant Director Maura Lizarondo, in her opening remarks, calls the ADP an opportunity for the Bureau and they have no regrets engaging in this endeavour, though they had to go through a difficult process at a time when they had so many concerns....

The second Philippine Data Archive was launched by the Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES) in a well-attended program at the Pavilion Hotel in Manila on 08 June 2010. Named the BLES Electronic Archived Microdata System, or BEAMS for short, it includes the documentation of 27 surveys and administrative data system. The Philippine National Statistics Office (NSO) and the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS) held their respective DDI Quality Review Workshops in the first quarter of 2010 for publication online in the second quarter. The NSO held two workshops in Pasig City with the first batch on 27-29 January with 20 participants and the second batch on 8-9 March with 18 participants. A DDI Quality Review Workshop was held for the Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES) and Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in Tagaytay City, Philippines from 23 to 27 November 2009. The National Statistics Office (NSO) of the Philippines introduced to the public its Online Data Archive in a simple ceremony on 30 October 2009 (http://www.census.gov.ph/nsoda/) . Represented during the occasion were data users and government data producers. The data users were from the academe, policy-making institutions, an international organization as well as private individuals.

Nineteen trainees from the Philippine Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS) participated in the IHSN Microdata Management Toolkit Training and DDI Production Workshop, and started producing DDIs for surveys on food and agriculture from 31 August to 04 September 2009 in Rizal province.
