A Regional Workshop on Developing Data Dissemination Policies was held from 27 – 29 August 2014 in Kigali, Rwanda. Representatives from National Statistics Offices of eight countries attended the workshop, including: Botswana, Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda and South Africa. These countries are in different stages of developing their data dissemination policies. Among them Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda and South Africa have full-fledged policies for disseminating microdata. The ADP held a regional workshop on data documentation and dissemination in the Southern Africa region from June 24-26. The DDP has engaged NSOs in all 15 countries of the Southern Africa Development Community in regional and national-level capacity development in microdata documentation and management. Two back-to-back IHSN Microdata Management Toolkit trainings and Survey Metadata Production Workshops were held on September 16 - 20 in Lilongwe and on September 23 - 27 in Zomba. A total of twelve participants gathered together from the NSO regional office in Lilongwe and the Ministries of Agriculture, Education, Energy, Health, Trade, and Justice to document their respective surveys. The National Statistical Office (NSO) of Malawi has been an ADP member since 2009. It has been providing online data to users with eight surveys since it joined the ADP. Recently it has completed the first phase of the NSS Strategic Plan developed with the help of PARIS21. As per the NSS plan it wants to expand its cooperation with the other six line ministries in the field of data collection and documentation. A Microdata Management Toolkit Training was held in Liwonde, Malawi for the National Statistics Office. The training was also attended by a representative from the African Development Bank, Mr. Fessou Lawson.
