Improving quality and dissemination of statistics is one of the strategic objectives of the Second National Strategy for Development of Statistics (2014-2018) of National Institute of Statistics Rwanda (NISR). In accordance to the principles set out in the NSDS, the NISR is committed to ensuring that survey microdata are made available to the public on an impartial basis through National Data Archive (NADA). A Regional Workshop on Developing Data Dissemination Policies was held from 27 – 29 August 2014 in Kigali, Rwanda. Representatives from National Statistics Offices of eight countries attended the workshop, including: Botswana, Burundi, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda and South Africa. These countries are in different stages of developing their data dissemination policies. Among them Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda and South Africa have full-fledged policies for disseminating microdata. The ADP held a regional workshop on data documentation and dissemination in the Southern Africa region from June 24-26. The DDP has engaged NSOs in all 15 countries of the Southern Africa Development Community in regional and national-level capacity development in microdata documentation and management. The National Institute of Statistics Rwanda (NISR) organized a five-day Metadata Production Workshop in Huye, Rwanda on February 17 to 21, 2014. The ADP provided two facilitators to support the NISR in their efforts to document new surveys and strengthen NISR capacity on microdata documentation and NADA management. The ADP and the National Institute of Statistics Rwanda (NISR) hosted a series of Microdata Outreach Workshops in August to reach out to data users from National University of Rwanda (NUR) School of Public Health in Kigali, NUR in Butare, and INES Ruhengeri. A Regional Training workshop was held in Tunis, Tunisia on June 13 – 15, 2013 in the context of the launching of the NADA 4.0 by the International Household Survey Network (IHSN). This workshop was jointly organized by PARIS21 with the World Bank and the African Development Bank. The workshop aimed to expose participants to the latest version of the NADA application which was recently released, to upgrade their existing NADAs and implement relevant quality enhancements to their systems and to discuss strategic and technical issues relating to microdata dissemination in general....

The National Institute of Statistics Rwanda (NISR), an ADP member since 2011, launched its National Data Archive (NADA) at the Open Access to Statistical Data Workshop held on May 10, 2013 in Kigali. The workshop was attended by the director General of NISR, data users, and Representatives from UN Rwanda, African Development Bank and OECD/PARIS21/ADP. NADA was presented as the platform for disseminating survey and census microdata. During the same workshop, NISR also launched tools for disseminating time-series data, including Statistical Data Portal, SDMX and Stat Alert....

The IHSN tools, guidelines and standards were introduced to the participants of the 3rd Group Training Course in Application of Information Management and Related ICT for Official Statistics conducted by the UN Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific (SIAP) in Chiba, Japan.
